Bring on the poets!

April is National Poetry Month and I’m ready to champion your verse.

Sometime ago, I began Whispered Words Poetry on Instagram, a sort of off-shoot from my little publishing endeavor, Writer Shed Press. A couple of years ago, I published a couple of journals with work from wonderful writers and poets. The press was a way to give new voices a platform. Whispered Words was part of the process, a simple, fun, no-expectations project for poetry. Simple verse with some nice photos. Just a place to play with words. In time, I gave it a rest, and it withered on the vine, yet life hung on. And now, it’s time to bring it back to celebrate poetry with a social presence and a new poetry anthology.

Here’s how to take part.

SUBMIT your poems. Short ones. No more than five lines. They can be three words if you want, a haiku, tiny little gems. Send them here poems@writershedpress.com and/or FOLLOW the project @whisperedwordspoetry on Instagram and send a message. We’ll then turn them into posts to share everywhere we can. Sure, you can post such poetry on your own social media platforms, but with more than 1K followers here on Medium and elsewhere, I think we can help spread the word about poetry, poetry month, and your beautiful little words.

And most importantly celebrate poetry together.

Plus, if it all goes well, Writer Shed Press will put together a little chapbook of poetry from the project, print publishing all the work.

Send me your verse. Let’s have some fun. Champion poetry in its simplest forms and do it together.

All poems will be consider for the coming chapbook/anthology.
