I agree. You are right on it. That’s a hard one for me to determine, however. The book as a kid that got me interested in story is the simple and wonderful GO, DOG. GO by P.D. Eastman. Just a wonderful kid book about building community.

But as an adult — if I had to pick — Kerouac’s ON THE ROAD, although later I found THE DHARMA BUMS to be his better book. But still, “Road” offered so much freedom.
